"Fear not!"... Coming from Linus?

I was doing what many a smart person gets sucked into when they don't know what else to do with their time: scrolling through my Newsfeed on Facebook. A cute picture here, a funny meme there... just your typical flick through the news of the day. At one point, however, a post from one of the SSMI caught my eye. It's called, "The Moment You Never Noticed in A Charlie Brown Christmas." Now this article on GodUpdates was published a couple years ago, but its message still rings true as we go into 2018. Why don't you click on the article to check it out before you keep reading.

*Cue "Jeopardy" music*

Okay, now that you're back, let's watch that clip of Linus one more time:

I'm not going to repeat what the author of the above article wrote because it's already been said (if you didn't actually read the article above, I suggest you do so now). What I will add is that through this Philipian Fast I have definitely struggled with letting go of habits that I know are not good for me, being consistent in prayer, and totally trusting God to lead me. What Linus dropping his security blanket reminds me, though, is that letting go really is quite simple, though not always easy. It takes faith, trust, and hope that once we finally let go of the things holding us back something better than we could have imagined will take its place. For Christians, this is Jesus Christ, and that's what we celebrate this Christmas.

So, let's take our cue from Linus and "Fear not" as we near the end of our Fast, ready to welcome Jesus into our lives and hearts anew this Christmas.

And now I think I need to find a copy of this whole movie. EPL, here I come!

God bless,

Joyanne :D
