Happy Canada Day!

Alright, so I'm a little late... but I'll say it anyway: Happy 150th, Canada! I know I'm thankful to live in a country that has accepted and benefitted my ancestors, giving my family and me a better life than we would have had. I am truly proud to be Canadian and hope that we may continue to grow in virtue, recognizing our past mistakes and moving forward in reconciliation with those we have hurt.

In order to give us a chance of making sure we have the best possible subsequent 150 years, St. Nicholas Parish, along with other Catholic Churches across Canada, of both eastern and western rites, recited a prayer for the Consecration of Canada to the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary. To join in, recite the prayer below:

Mary our Mother,

may the Cross of your Son, planted on Canadian soil and in Canadian hearts, be known as the Tree of Life, whose fruit is visible and available to all in the garden of this world.

We place our country

Canada in the sanctuary of your Holy Heart for we know that there we will find Jesus, who lives and reigns with the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Amen.

O Most Holy Theotokos, save us! Пресвятая Богородице, спаси нас!

And now I shall leave you with this video from Dave and Chris Hadfield who've pretty much got it right with their song, "In Canada" (minus the part about all of us drinking milk out of a bag).

God bless and have a wonderful day!

Joyanne :D
